What is an Omni directional antenna for 2.4 GHz?
Omni directional antenna are used for Point-to-Multi-Point systems，they collect and broadcast signal in a 360-degree pattern , similar to how a light bulb throws light in in a room. These low gain omni antennas provide a perfect coverage for an indoor environment. they cover more area near the AP or a wireless device in order to increase the probability of receiving the signal in a multipath environment.
Since the energy of the signal is not directional or pointed in a specific way，Omni directional antennas tend to be of lower gain compared to directional antennas, so the peak throughput is lower .
